The Days of Thunder (~35,000 years ago)

The Dawn War and the separation of Abeir-Toril finally allowed intelligent life to flourish and the first mortal races, known as the Iqua’Tel’Quessir to the elves, rose to power beginning the age known as the Days of Thunder. This was long before the humans, elves, dwarves and other common races we know today. And the surface of Toril was different in those days. It was a single massive super-continent known as Merrouroboros. In the early eons, the “creator races” wove great magics from the elemental forces of creation and accomplished feats unimagined by even the most powerful magic-users today. However, many tens-of-thousands of years ago a terrible and unknown calamity befell the creator races. Perhaps the answer lies deep in the oldest ruins explorers have found though no compelling evidence has yet to be unearthed. Today, the closest direct descendants of the first races are the lizard folk, the frog-like bullywugs and the aarakocra bird people. They are, unfortunately, savage shadows of their antediluvian originators and few of their oral traditions give us clues regarding the first days of their peoples.
